Beginning analysis can feel like a significant step. It starts with your first contact – a simple conversation that helps us explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. You are welcome to call or email me to arrange an initial meeting or to ask any questions you may have. I aim to respond to all enquiries as promptly as possible.
The First Meeting
Our initial meeting will offer an opportunity to talk about your reasons for seeking psychotherapy and to consider what it might be like for us to work together. Finding the right therapeutic match is central to the success of the process. This session is designed to give you space to speak freely, without commitment, and to see whether the setting feels right for you.
In some cases, it may be helpful to arrange a second meeting to explore things further before deciding how to proceed. If I feel that a different form of support might be more appropriate, I will always advise you of this and, where possible, make a suitable recommendation.
Fees
- I work at variable rates depending on your circumstances.
- Sessions take place a minimum of once per week, with the option to meet up more often depending on need and agreement.
- Payment details and practical arrangements can be discussed during the initial consultation.
- Initial consultations last approximately 1 hour and cost £50.
Contract
You are free to stop therapy whenever you wish. Once we agree to work together, I will share the Policies of my Practice with you so that you are fully informed about the structure and boundaries of the work.
Code of Ethics, Confidentiality & Data Protection
As a member of The Guild of Psychotherapists I adhere to its professional Code of Ethics, which can be found here. The purpose of such a code is to protect clients from professional malpractice and/or negligence. It does not presume to specify the theoretical status of ethics within psychoanalysis.
I am also bound by the UKCP Code Of Ethics And Professional Practice, which can be found here.
Psychoanalysis relies on trust. The contents of discussions held during therapy are not written down or otherwise recorded in any way. I keep a few notes from sessions, and any discussion of my work is strictly confidential, shared only within the context of supervision and clinical development.
I collect data solely for appointment scheduling, invoicing, and tax purposes.
